Why It Matters

What Happens Without a Proper Plan

Without an estate plan, assets may be subject to probate and court oversight. This court process can become expensive, time-consuming, and completely public for loved ones already dealing with loss.

A LifePlan helps your family avoid unnecessary delays, added costs, and legal complications while making sure your wishes are carried out clearly and smoothly.

Without a LifePlan

  • Probate court is public record and can take 12 to 24 months
  • Attorney fees up to 4% of gross estate
  • Court controls asset distribution
  • No guardian designated for minor children
  • Family stress and potential disputes

With a LifePlan

  • Private transfer with no court involvement and no delays
  • Minimal fees help preserve more assets for your family
  • Your wishes are carried out exactly as intended
  • The guardian you choose can care for your children
  • Your family receives support instead of added burdens
Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the questions we hear most often from California families. If you don’t see yours here, our free webinar covers everything in detail, or you’re always welcome to call us directly.
Do I need a trust, or is a will enough?

In California, a will by itself still requires your estate to go through probate. Probate is a public court process that can take 1 to 2 years to complete and may cost up to 4% of your gross estate in fees.

A living trust helps your assets pass directly to your loved ones without court involvement. It keeps your affairs private, avoids probate delays, and gives your family faster access to the assets they need.

For most California families, a living trust provides the strongest foundation for an estate plan.

Every LifePlan is customized to your family’s needs and goals, so the cost can vary. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your situation and provide clear pricing for the planning options that best fit your needs.
Trust funding is the process of transferring your assets into your trust so they are properly protected and managed according to your estate plan. Without funding, a trust may not provide the benefits it was designed to offer.
The timeline depends on the complexity of your plan, but most clients can complete the process within a few weeks. We’ll guide you through each step and keep the process as simple and efficient as possible.
That’s a great start. We can review your existing documents to make sure they still reflect your wishes, comply with current laws, and provide the protection your family needs.
